Deep, purple-red in colour. Intense, lifted black fruit aromas, layered with underlying notes of coffee and dark chocolate, with hints of mint and savoury oak. A smooth, rich wine, with blackberry, plum and dark chocolate flavours supported by spicy oak. The wine shows exceptional complexity and balance, full and opulent, yet fine and elegant, with a persistence of flavour and finegrained tannins. Serve with rare roasted beef fillet, or aged Stilton or Cheddar cheese with quince paste and water crackers.
